The Jesse Brown VA Medical Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate  Primary Care Physician to join our team. As part of the Veterans Health Administration, you will serve those who have served our nation—providing high-quality, patient-centered care in an environment that supports growth, collaboration, and professional fulfillment.

Position Overview

We are recruiting a full-time Internal Medicine physician who will provide comprehensive primary care services to our nation’s Veterans. The physician will deliver outpatient clinical care and participate in the teaching and supervision of internal medicine residents and medical students. This role emphasizes continuity of care and a holistic approach that integrates physical, psychological, functional, and social well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Obtain health histories and perform physical examinations.

  • Diagnose, manage, and treat acute and chronic medical conditions.

  • Develop individualized treatment and prevention plans in collaboration with patients.

  • Coordinate care management with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to achieve positive patient outcomes.

  • Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with professional practice standards.

  • Review and follow up on diagnostic results promptly and accurately.

  • Participate in peer review, quality improvement, and clinical meetings.

  • Support medical education through supervision and mentorship of medical trainees.

  • Maintain compliance with VA policies and uphold productivity standards.

Work Schedule

Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Compensation and Benefits

Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP)

This position is eligible for the  Education Debt Reduction Program , a student loan repayment initiative offering up to $200,000 in reimbursement. Eligibility and award amounts are determined following appointment.

Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship required (non-citizens may be appointed when qualified citizens are unavailable)

  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree from an accredited institution

  • Current, full, and unrestricted medical license from any U.S. state or territory

  • Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine

  • Proficiency in written and spoken English

  • Successful completion of background, physical examination, and drug screening requirements
