Join our thriving logistics team as a Material Handler in Detroit, Michigan! In this vital role, you will be responsible for the movement of materials throughout our warehouse facility. This includes operating various types of equipment to load, unload, transport, and store goods. Precision and efficiency are key as you ensure materials are in the right place at the right time to support our overall operations. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of material handling techniques, and a commitment to workplace Safety. You will work closely with other team members in a dynamic logistics environment, ensuring the smooth flow of inventory. Your duties will involve significant physical activity, including frequent Lifting and bending. A proactive approach to identifying and resolving potential issues is highly valued. Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment to move goods.
- Load and unload trucks efficiently and safely.
- Transport materials from receiving to storage areas and to production lines or shipping docks.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any issues.
- Stack and arrange materials in designated areas, ensuring stability and accessibility.
- Assist with inventory control by verifying counts and locations of materials.
- Adhere strictly to all Safety regulations and procedures, including the correct usage of PPE.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to prevent hazards.
- Collaborate with warehouse supervisors and team members to meet operational goals.
- Participate in ongoing training to enhance skills and Safety awareness.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Proven experience as a Material Handler or in a similar role.
- Valid forklift operator certification is a plus.
- Physical ability to handle frequent Lifting, pushing, and pulling of heavy objects.
- Understanding of warehouse operations and logistics.
- Strong safety consciousness and commitment to using PPE.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
- Demonstrated reliability and punctuality.
