We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Shipping Clerk to join our team in Chicago, Illinois. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and processing all outgoing shipments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. This position is critical to our logistics operations, bridging the gap between our warehouse floor and our transportation partners. Your duties will include preparing shipping documents, verifying shipment contents, scheduling pickups, and maintaining shipping records. A strong understanding of shipping procedures and carrier requirements is essential. You will work closely with warehouse staff and carriers to ensure smooth dispatch. Maintaining a safe working environment is paramount; therefore, adherence to all company safety policies and the correct use of PPE are mandatory. While the role is primarily administrative, some light physical activity and occasional Lifting may be required when assisting with loading or verification. Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process all shipping documentation (bills of lading, packing lists, etc.).
- Verify accuracy of outgoing shipments against orders.
- Coordinate with carriers to schedule freight pickups.
- Track shipments and provide updates to relevant parties.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date shipping records.
- Ensure compliance with all shipping regulations and company policies.
- Communicate effectively with warehouse personnel and transportation providers.
- Follow all workplace safety guidelines.
- Wear and use appropriate PPE when necessary.
- Support overall warehouse logistics and efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a related role.
- Proficiency in shipping software and general office applications.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Understanding of shipping processes and logistics .
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to workplace safety .
- Willingness to assist with light physical tasks and occasional Lifting .
- Ability to use and maintain required PPE .
