Our growing logistics hub in Virginia Beach, Virginia, is seeking an experienced Inventory Control Specialist to ensure the accuracy and integrity of our warehouse stock. This critical role involves meticulous record-keeping, regular cycle counting, and the investigation of inventory discrepancies. You will be instrumental in maintaining optimal stock levels, reducing shrinkage, and improving overall warehouse efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a comprehensive understanding of inventory management systems and warehouse operations. You will work closely with receiving, put-away, picking, and shipping teams to identify and resolve stock issues promptly. Proficiency in using inventory management software and other warehouse technologies is essential. Safety is a top priority in our logistics environment; you must be knowledgeable about and adhere to all safety regulations, including the proper use of PPE. While this role is primarily analytical, there may be instances requiring physical involvement, such as assisting with stock takes or moving items, which may involve lifting. Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventory audits.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies promptly.
- Maintain accurate inventory records using warehouse management systems (WMS).
- Monitor stock levels and identify potential stockouts or overstocks.
- Implement and improve inventory control procedures.
- Track and report on key inventory metrics (e.g., accuracy, shrinkage).
- Analyze inventory data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Work with operations teams to ensure proper handling and storage of goods.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of PPE.
- Assist with receiving and put-away processes as needed, which may include lifting.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in inventory control or warehouse management.
- Strong knowledge of WMS and inventory control best practices.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with logistics operations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Understanding of warehouse safety protocols and the use of PPE.
- Physical ability to perform tasks that may involve lifting and moving inventory.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
