We are seeking a Lead Frontend Engineer to spearhead the technical strategy across this platform. This role is ideal for a technical leader poised to drive significant performance enhancements on our web and mobile clients while mentoring a growing team of engineers. This is a rare chance to engage at the intersection of crypto, trading infrastructure, and consumer products, tackling stimulating engineering challenges that directly influence Coinbase's core business. Your responsibilities will include: Working closely with Product and Engineering leaders to define and implement a robust technical roadmap for a dependable and scalable trading platform.
Pioneering the technical efforts to deliver a low-latency interface for seasoned traders across all platforms.
Providing technical mentorship and guidance to engineers, leading complex projects, and maintaining high standards for code quality and system architecture.
We look for the following in candidates: A minimum of 8 years of experience in software engineering, particularly with modern front-end frameworks and mobile environments.
A successful track record of optimizing complex systems, with emphasis on rendering performance, network efficiency, and state management.
Proven leadership capabilities, including mentoring senior engineers and driving organizational enhancements.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to distill complex technical issues into actionable plans for various stakeholders.
Additional desirable qualifications: Experience during a rapid company expansion phase (e.g., growing from 10 to 100+ engineers).
Background in developing low-latency trading systems.
Familiarity with various blockchains (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum).
Experience in breaking down a large monolithic architecture into microservices.
Proficiency in Golang, Ruby, Docker, Sinatra, Rails, and Postgres.
Crypto-savvy experience, particularly related to on-chain activities such as managing Ethereum addresses, utilizing ENS, and engaging with decentralized applications or blockchain-based services.

Depending on your work location, the target annual base salary for this position can range as detailed below. Total compensation may also include bonus eligibility and benefits (including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k)).
