The Business Intelligence internship (10 to 12 weeks) is designed to provide hands on experience in healthcare analytics while building foundational skills in data management, reporting tools, and stakeholder support.

Work Schedule:
This is a part time position consisting of up to 24 hours per week during the standard business hours of Monday to Friday. Times are subject to change due to business necessity

Job Duties: These are considered essential to the successful performance of this position: • Assist with collecting and organizing data from various internal systems, including financial, operational, pharmacy, and clinical data sources • Support the maintenance of reports and dashboards in alignment with established data standards • Help format data and reports to improve clarity, usability, and visual presentation. • Participate in basic data analysis activities to identify trends, patterns, and potential improvement opportunities. • Assist senior analysts with documentation, testing, and validation of reports and data outputs. • Observe and support presentations of data findings to leadership, management, and staff as part of the learning experience. • Perform other related duties as assigned to support team operations and learning objectives
Learning Objectives: By the end of the 10 to 12 week internship, the intern will: • Develop a foundational understanding of how healthcare operational, financial, pharmacy, and clinical data are used to support decision making • Gain hands on experience working with business intelligence tools such as Microsoft Excel and Power BI in a real world healthcare environment • Learn basic data management concepts, including data organization, validation, documentation, and reporting standards. • Build introductory skills in analyzing data for trends, accuracy, and usability. • Improve professional communication skills by collaborating with analysts and observing how data insights are presented to stakeholders. • Understand the role of Business Intelligence within a healthcare organization and how data supports quality improvement and strategic initiatives.

Facility Environment: Heart of Ohio Family Health operates in multiple locations, in Columbus, OH area. All facilities have a medical office environment with frontdesk reception area, separate patient examination rooms, nursing stations, pharmacy stock room, business offices, hallways and private toilet facilities. All facilities are ADA compliant.
Physical Demands and Requirements: these may be modified to accurately perform the essential functions of the position: o Mobility = ability to easily move without assistance o Bending = occasional bending from the waist and knees o Reaching = occasional reaching no higher-than-normal arm stretch o Lifting/Carry = ability to lift and carry a normal stack of documents and/or files o Pushing/Pulling = ability to push or pull a normal office environment o Dexterity = ability to handle and/or grasp, use a keyboard, calculator, and other office equipment accurately and quickly o Hearing = ability to accurately hear and react to the normal tone of a person's voice o Visual = ability to safely and accurately see and react to factors and objects in a normal setting o Speaking = ability to pronounce words clearly to be understood by another individual
Job Qualifications: (Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities) • Enrollment in or recent completion of a degree program related to data analytics, information systems, healthcare administration, computer science, or a related field. • Interest in healthcare data, reporting, and analytics. • Basic familiarity with Microsoft tools such as Excel and Power BI, or a willingness to learn • Introductory understanding of databases, SQL concepts, or data structures is preferred but not required. • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in both written and verbal formats. • Willingness to learn new tools, technologies, and healthcare reporting concepts. • Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also completing assigned tasks independently with guidance. • Experience with Population Health Management tools is preferred • Strong analytical and problem solving skills • Highly organized and detail oriented • Ability to communicate (orally and in written) in a professional manner • Ability to effectively work both independently and in a team setting • Ability to maintain an established work schedule to ensure dependability, accuracy of work quality, and a harmonious, consistent work environment
