We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Receiving Clerk to join our dynamic logistics team in Detroit, Michigan. The Receiving Clerk plays a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and efficient intake of all incoming shipments into our warehouse. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and orderly receiving area. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and possess a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Responsibilities:
- Receive, unload, and inspect incoming shipments for accuracy and damage.
- Verify quantities against purchase orders and packing slips.
- Document all discrepancies and damages and report them to the supervisor immediately.
- Sort and organize received goods, preparing them for put-away.
- Maintain a clean and organized receiving dock.
- Operate necessary equipment such as pallet jacks and hand trucks safely.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Assist with inventory counts and stock checks as needed.
- Communicate effectively with internal departments and external vendors.
- Ensure a smooth workflow for incoming goods, contributing to the overall efficiency of our logistics operations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in receiving, warehousing, or a similar role preferred.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including frequent Lifting of up to 50 pounds.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and record-keeping.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with warehouse operations and logistics principles.
- Commitment to Safety and the use of PPE.
