We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Material Handler to join our dynamic logistics team in Chicago, Illinois. The Material Handler will be responsible for a variety of tasks including moving, locating, relocating, stacking, and counting merchandise. This role is crucial to the efficient operation of our warehouse, ensuring that materials are organized and accessible. You will work closely with other warehouse staff to maintain an organized and safe working environment. This position involves significant physical activity and requires a strong commitment to safety protocols. Ideal candidates will have prior experience in a warehouse setting and understand the importance of accurate inventory management. Responsibilities:
- Load and unload materials from trucks and containers.
- Move materials to and from storage areas using appropriate equipment.
- Accurately count and record inventory.
- Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely and efficiently (certification may be required).
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety regulations.
- Perform regular checks on equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Assist with shipping and receiving as needed.
- Follow all company policies and procedures.
- Adhere to strict Safety standards.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role.
- Ability to perform heavy Lifting tasks up to 50 lbs.
- Understanding of warehouse operations and inventory control.
- Knowledge of Safety procedures and the proper use of PPE.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic math and reading skills.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Experience in a fast-paced logistics environment is a plus.
