Position Overview
GSA Staffing is recruiting a Customer Returns Associate for a preferred client in the automotive parts distribution industry. This role is responsible for processing customer returns, inspecting returned merchandise, documenting product condition, and determining proper inventory disposition in accordance with company return and warranty policies.
This is a hands‐on warehouse role that combines inspection, documentation, inventory control, and cross‐department communication .
Key Responsibilities
- Collect returned packages from the Receiving area and deliver company mail to the Administration office.
- Create and initiate internal return documentation, including Sales Credit Memos (SCMs) .
- Perform visual inspections of returned packages to identify potential shipping damage.
- Document damaged returns on SCMs and photograph damage following the UPS six‐point inspection procedure .
- File photographic documentation in accordance with internal returns protocols.
- Review all customer‐provided return documentation.
- Inspect returned products while considering customer comments to determine condition and appropriate disposition.
- Identify and document damage, signs of use, or missing components on SCMs.
- Determine proper disposition of returned items, including:
- Back to Stock (BTS)
- Return to Vendor (RTV)
- Scrap
- Hold for policy or warranty review
- Assign correct internal warehouse locations based on disposition (e.g., WH1 or WH1RET).
- Record customer‐reported issues and inspection findings, including recommendations for approval or denial of returns.
- Repackage approved items and place them in designated BTS locations for warehouse put‐away.
- Support the Customer Service team by providing clarification or information needed to complete return processing.
- Perform physical scrapping of inventory‐adjusted products.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong organizational skills with a high level of accountability.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong reasoning skills and ability to make judgment‐based decisions.
- Basic math skills.
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Previous warehouse, returns, quality inspection, or inventory experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
- Adequate vision, hearing, and hand dexterity.
- Ability to climb, stoop, kneel, reach, push, pull, grasp, and perform repetitive motions.
- Ability to climb ladders of varying heights.
- Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs. to a height of approximately 4 feet .
