*Responsibilities include:*
* Provides patient care and treatment of hospitalized and non-hospitalized patients.
* Administers and monitors anesthesia and IV fluids, including catheter placement
* Performs laboratory tests as directed
* Performs blood draws and injections
* Takes and processes radiographs
* Calculates dosages of medications including IV fluids
* Completes documentation of treatments, laboratory results, and patient observations in medical record and computer
* Schedules surgical and medical appointments
* Dispenses and administers medications and vaccines as directed
* Provides client communications and education including patient status, explanation of medications and preventative care recommendations
* Performs dental procedures
* Prepares patients, instruments, and equipment for surgery
* Restrains animals for veterinarian or other staff members as directed
* Maintains inventory in pharmacy, treatment areas and exam room
* Acts as veterinary assistant to doctors
*Qualifications:*Graduate of an AAS Veterinary Technology Program
Professional Licensure in Veterinary Technology in New York State
