Position Title: Material Handler / Forklift Operator
Department: Warehouse / Production
Reports To: Warehouse Supervisor / Production Supervisor

Position Summary

The Material Handler / Forklift Operator is responsible for safely transporting, loading, unloading, and organizing materials throughout the warehouse and production areas. This position ensures that materials and products are delivered to the appropriate locations efficiently to support production operations while maintaining safety and inventory accuracy.

The Material Handler / Forklift Operator must operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment safely while following company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to move raw materials, finished goods, and components throughout the warehouse and production areas.
• Load and unload trucks, deliveries, and shipments safely and efficiently.
• Transport materials to designated workstations to support production operations.
• Maintain accurate inventory movement by following established procedures and documentation requirements.
• Inspect materials and products for damage and report any discrepancies or issues to supervision.
• Assist with organizing and maintaining warehouse storage areas to ensure safe and efficient workflow.
• Perform routine inspections of forklifts and report maintenance or safety concerns immediately.
• Follow all company safety guidelines when operating equipment and handling materials.
• Assist with general warehouse duties such as staging materials, packaging, and preparing shipments as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment in accordance with safety standards.

Safety Responsibilities

• Operate forklifts and material-handling equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety shoes, safety glasses, and other required gear.
• Follow all OSHA, state, and federal safety regulations.
• Report any unsafe conditions, equipment malfunctions, or hazards immediately.

Qualifications

• Previous forklift operating experience preferred.
• Ability to safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
• Basic understanding of warehouse operations and inventory handling.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
• Forklift certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the warehouse for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as required.
• Ability to work in a warehouse or manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.
