Batch Soap and Detergent Mixing Technician

Job Description

A Batch Soap and Detergent Mixing Technician is responsible for mixing raw materials to create finished soap and detergent products according to inventory and company branch needs.

Duties and Responsibilities (On the Job Training Provided:

· Set up and start all mixing tanks and blenders.

· Obtain and understand all documentation for making batches. Ensures correct ingredients are used for each batch. (Soap/ Detergent "recipes" are provided, along with training and guidance from company chemist.)

· Pumping and pouring chemicals into blend tanks in predetermined quantities.

· Properly storing all chemicals, materials, and finished products.

· Pumping and pouring finished product into containers for resale.

· Operate equipment (mixers, scales, meters, pumps, forklifts, etc.) safely.

· Monitor raw material usage on each blend are added correctly with right weights.

· Ensure all raw materials returned to inventory have the right quantity and information on containers and containers are in good condition.

· Follow lab instructions regarding batch approval, adjustments, and any additional requirements.

· Clean equipment and containers when needed.

· Refer issues/problems to supervisor.

· Communicate with company purchaser when raw materials are needed.

· Complete all paperwork and batch documentation in a timely manner.

· Maintain inventory counts on all supplies, products, material and report to company accounting department.

· Communicate with branch managers, chemist, accounting and truck drivers.

· Observe safety requirements set forth by company.

· Perform other related duties as required.

· Ensure facility and equipment is secure.

Position Requirements:

· High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

· Must be able to read/comprehend written and oral instructions in English, including safety rules, operating procedures, product recipes, material identification, etc.

· Able to manipulate 55-gallon drums of chemicals.

· Must have mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Able to perform these operations using weight and volume measurements.

· Able to manipulate powder bags up to 55 lbs.
