MRO/ Inventory Specialist

Summary

The Maintenance Inventory Specialist is responsible for managing, organizing, and controlling maintenance-related inventory to ensure parts, tools, and supplies are available to support efficient maintenance operations. This role works closely with maintenance, purchasing, and operations teams to minimize downtime, control costs, and maintain accurate inventory records.

Essential Functions

• Maintain accurate inventory levels for maintenance, repair, and operating (MRO) parts and supplies.
• Receive, inspect, label, and stock incoming parts, tools, and materials.
• Issue parts to maintenance personnel and track usage in the inventory management system.
• Monitor inventory levels and generate purchase requests or reorder points to prevent shortages or overstocking.
• Coordinate with purchasing and vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of materials.
• Conduct regular cycle counts and periodic physical inventories; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
• Organize and maintain storerooms, tool cribs, and inventory locations in a clean, safe, and efficient manner.
• Maintain accurate documentation, including part numbers, descriptions, locations, and equipment associations.
• Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs by ensuring required parts are available.
• Assist with equipment shutdowns, turnarounds, and special maintenance projects as needed.
• Identify obsolete or excess inventory and recommend disposition.
• Follow all safety, quality, and company policies and procedures.

• Knowledge of OSHA and other regulatory agencies directives.
• Strong interpersonal skills, ability to interact effectively with cross-function teams.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Computer Skills
• Fluent in English: Reading, writing, communicating

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Associate’s degree in relevant technical field preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively, including talking and hearing in a manufacturing environment. This is a physically demanding role that requires frequent standing and walking throughout the shift, as well as bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, climbing, and occasional crawling. The employee must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing 50 pounds or more, with or without assistance. The position also requires the ability to work safely around industrial machinery, hot materials, moving equipment, and forklifts. Specific vision requirements include close and distance vision, color recognition, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus to safely perform job duties.

Work Environment

• Work is performed in a manufacturing plant environment. Safety glasses, ear plugs, and safety shoes are required in facilities.
• Work environment is subject to extreme environmental temperatures.
