The CDP Foundations team is responsible for the essential data models and primitives that drive the Coinbase Developer Platform. We create the foundational layer that outlines organizational structures, user representations, fund ownership, and access control. Your Responsibilities: Develop, deploy, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance backend services utilizing a microservices and distributed architecture.
Define and document internal and customer-facing APIs serving as fundamental components of the CDP.
Create technical design documents (TDDs) to provide guidance and clarity on complex projects.
Oversee the end-to-end delivery of projects, including implementation, deployment, and ongoing monitoring.
Enhance and uphold operational excellence standards within the team, addressing technical debt and improving reliability and observability proactively.
Engage in code reviews, participate in on-call duties, lead incident responses, and cultivate a team culture that values constructive feedback and high code quality.
What We Seek: 5+ years of backend software development experience, with a strong emphasis on backend systems.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Golang (preferred), C, Rust, or Python.
Experience with databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB), caching mechanisms (e.g., Redis, Memcached), and message queuing systems (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ).
Thorough understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and event-driven designs.
In-depth knowledge of RESTful API design principles and experience with API development, integration, and authentication protocols like OAuth and JWT.
Familiarity with AWS services and containerization technologies, particularly Kubernetes.
Awareness of web security best practices, along with experience in developing secure coding practices for financial systems.
Outstanding communication and teamwork abilities.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in designing public APIs.
Background in constructing financial platforms or fintech solutions.
Familiarity with the crypto/onchain ecosystem is a plus.
Note: The target annual base salary for this position ranges from $186,065 to $218,900 USD. Total compensation may also include equity, bonuses, and a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
