Our client is a modern, technology-driven banking partner that supports FinTech companies and digital brands in launching innovative financial products. The organization blends the speed and flexibility of a startup with the stability and oversight of a regulated financial institution. Their teams work together to deliver scalable solutions across embedded finance, card programs, and lending products. They are seeking a hands-on Data Engineer with strong capabilities in Azure Synapse, SQL Server, and Power BI. The ideal candidate is analytical, resourceful, and comfortable designing end-to-end data solutions that enhance reporting, automation, and business intelligence across the organization. This role works closely with internal teams to translate business needs into technical deliverables and build high-quality data pipelines, models, and dashboards.
Key Responsibilities Reporting to the Director of Data, Reporting & Analytics, this individual will operate both independently and collaboratively with internal teams, external partners, and key technology vendors. Responsibilities may include:
Partnering with business stakeholders to define project goals, requirements, and data needs Converting business requirements into clear technical specifications and data models Designing, developing, and optimizing Azure SQL databases, stored procedures, and ETL pipelines in Azure Synapse Developing and maintaining Power BI reports, dashboards, and data sets Ensuring accuracy, consistency, and performance across all data and reporting solutions Managing Power BI online environments, including workspace administration and data refresh schedules Providing guidance on data visualization best practices Documenting data structures, processes, and reporting logic for internal reference and audit needs Supporting ad-hoc data queries and analysis for various business units Communicating technical concepts in a way that is accessible to non-technical audiences
Physical Requirements
This role primarily involves seated work for extended periods, including use of a computer and standard office equipment. Occasional movement within the workspace to access files or attend meetings may be required. Regular verbal and written communication with internal and external partners is essential.

Required Qualifications
3+ years of experience in data engineering or full-stack development with emphasis on Azure Synapse, SQL Server, and Power BI Strong T-SQL skills, including data modeling and performance optimization Hands-on experience with Power BI, including DAX and Power Query Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions Strong communication skills and comfort engaging with cross-functional teams Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Passion for problem-solving and leveraging data to drive business outcomes
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with financial services or banking products (e.g., credit, deposits, payments) Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments Knowledge of DevOps principles or deployment automation Exposure to Snowflake, Databricks, Apache frameworks, or machine learning automation tools
