Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Retail Pharmacist/PIC (Pharmacist-In-Charge) to lead our pharmacy operations with enthusiasm and expertise. This vital role involves overseeing daily pharmacy functions, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, and delivering exceptional patient care. As the Pharmacist/PIC, you will serve as the primary responsible pharmacist, managing medication dispensing, patient consultations, and pharmacy staff coordination. Your leadership will ensure our pharmacy maintains the highest standards of safety, accuracy, and service excellence. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to impact patient health positively while working in a slower-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise all pharmacy operations, ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory requirements such as HIPAA and pharmacy laws.
- Dispense medications accurately, including basic compounded medications.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to optimize medication therapy and support medical management plans.
- Oversee inventory management, including stock replenishment, medication storage compliance, and controlled substance accountability.
- Utilize pharmacy software system to document prescriptions, patient interactions, and inventory activities efficiently.
- Provide clinical pharmacy services such as immunizations, pain management consultations, and pediatric medication therapy.
- Perform patient care activities including medication administration guidance and patient education on physiology and anatomy relevant to their treatment.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams on acute care cases involving critical care experience or LTC (Long-Term Care) pharmacy settings to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of medical terminology, medical management strategies, and treatment protocols to deliver comprehensive patient service.
Qualifications
- Valid pharmacist license with current registration in the state of Iowa.
- Vaccine administration certified.
- Proven experience in Retail Pharmacy care setting is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, immunizations, and medication administration techniques.
- Experience with pharmacy technician supervision and collaboration to ensure smooth workflow.
- Proficiency with pharmacy software systems for accurate documentation.
- Familiarity with inventory management practices including controlled substance regulation compliance.
- Excellent understanding of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security.
