What you'll do

The SAP Cloud Application Event Hub team within the SAP Business Technology Platform is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to help design, build, and operate scalable cloud-based applications.

In this role, you will bring a strong passion for cloud-native development and operations, working closely within an Agile (Scrum) team to deliver high-quality, maintainable solutions. You take pride in writing clean, efficient code and producing clear documentation that supports long-term scalability and collaboration.

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will design, deliver, and operate innovative, scalable, secure, and reliable platform infrastructure, tools, frameworks, and services that enable the successful development and operation of enterprise-scale applications. You will drive innovation and automation, ensuring streamlined and efficient delivery and continuous improvement across platform capabilities.

• Design, develop, and operate scalable and secure platform infrastructure, tools, framework, and services to support enterprise-scale application needs.
• Build and maintain enterprise CICD pipeline and GitOps operational framework.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, design and cloud operations) to understand requirements and translate them into robust platform solutions.
• Develop and maintain automation tools and scripts to streamline delivery and operations, and infrastructure management.
• Ensure platform reliability, security, and performance through continuous monitoring, optimization, robust security practices and having sufficient observability in place .
• Provide technical documentation, guidance, and support on platform capabilities and best practices.
• Responsible for delivery of outcome of assigned projects or areas of responsibility and collaborates in devising long-term concepts
• Lead large, complex activities, using demonstrated creativity and expertise and applying specialist professional knowledge to deliver high quality results / technical solutions
• Contributes independently, resolves complex issues in own specialist area
• Provides regular project status and updates
• Participate in the 24/7 on-call rotation with the team

• Solid understanding and practice of Agile software development

• Strong team-oriented interpersonal skills, including humility and being open to giving and receiving feedback
• Experience in taking responsibility and ownership for your work and the team’s work without waiting for detailed instructions
• Must have a passion for delivering high-quality, fully tested and documented code
  • 8+ years of experience with operating cloud services running in a cloud environment (e.g., GCP, AWS, Azure, etc.)
• Advanced experience in building and maintaining enterprise CI/CD pipeline
• Advanced experience working in a containerized cloud environment using Kubernetes
• Advanced experience working in an environment with continuous delivery/continuous integration
• BA/BS degree in a computer related field
• Good verbal and written English

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with Kubernetes and related service mesh technologies like Istio, Linkerd or Envoy
• Experience with enterprise application integration and/or data integration
• Experience developing and operating
  • Kafka or other modern messaging technology
  • SAP Business Technology Platform
  • SAP Hyperspace, Piper and Gardener
  • Java or Go programming language or equivalent and writing concurrent, high-volume, transactional code
  • Streaming applications
  • Microservice architectures
  • Distributed architectures

The targeted combined range for this position is CAD .
