Position Summary
The faculty member shall be responsible for the following: teaching assigned classes under the supervision of the area dean; helping students fulfill their maximum potential in mastering course content; assessing student learning outcomes; maintaining a thorough and up-to-date knowledge in their regular teaching field; continuing professional development; utilizing current technology in the performance of job duties; maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position; assisting with articulation and curriculum development and review; serving on college committees and participating in faculty governance including accreditation and student co-curricular activities; assuming other responsibilities as assigned by the area dean; fulfilling other duties and responsibilities of a full-time faculty member.
About the Program: American River College is seeking a full-time faculty member in Interior Design to teach lecture and lab courses within the Interior Design (IDES) program. The position carries a standard full-time teaching load of approximately 1.0 FTE per semester and includes responsibilities in instruction, curriculum development, student advising, and shared governance.
The program emphasizes culturally responsive and equity-minded teaching practices, ongoing development and revision of Interior Design curriculum, and collaborative work with colleagues on department, college, and district initiatives and committees. Faculty are encouraged to create and teach assignments and course activities that reflect industry standards and best practices for the workplace. The IDES program is aligned with current industry practices and professional standards in interior design, including standards advanced through professional organizations such as the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), and comparable professional associations. The program also reflects current practices, processes, and technologies used in the field. Technologies used by the IDES program include industry-standard interior design software to support instruction and student skill development, such as Autodesk's Revit, AutoCAD, Inventor and SketchUp.
This position also integrates American River College's Strategic Goals into curriculum, instruction, and program development, with particular attention to equity, access, and student completion. Faculty contribute to an inclusive learning environment and serve a diverse community college student population with varied backgrounds, identities, and learning abilities.

Position Salary Information: Initial maximum salary placement is based on academic degree, upper/graduate level units earned, and/or related professional occupational experience per the
Los Rios College Federation of Teachers Contract

Typical Duties
The instructional assignment may include, but is not limited to, teaching the following courses:

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher AND Two (2) years of professional experience OR An associate degree AND Six (6) years of professional experience OR
the equivalent*. Note:
Professional experience must be directly related to the assignment being taught.
All degrees must be from an accredited institution completed by
August 20, 2026. match the stated qualifications exactly (word-for-word). If the degree title differs, or if it contains added, missing, or rearranged words, applicants

: If a master's in Psychology is required but the transcript lists Counseling Psychology and that title is not listed in the Minimum Qualifications, an Equivalency Determination Request Form

Transcript Requirements: Transcripts
must
be from an accredited U.S. institutions or approved foreign evaluation agency. Foreign transcripts are
not accepted . For coursework or degrees completed outside the U.S., upload a foreign transcript evaluation. Foreign transcript evaluations

be issued by an AICE (Association of International Credential Evaluation, Inc.) or NACES (National Association of Credential Evaluation Services) member agency. See the Foreign Transcript Evaluation webpage for details. Transcripts
must
clearly identify the degree(s) being used to meet the Minimum Qualifications. If more than one degree is required to meet the Minimum Qualifications (e.g., a bachelor's and a master's), transcripts for
each
degree
must
be included . Transcripts

show the degree title and indicate whether each degree is
completed
or
in progress . If the degree is in progress, the application
must
state, the month and year the degree is expected to be attained.
