A Glimpse of the Job
The Network Engineer III serves as technical lead for network engineering projects or services.
Essential Duties and Tasks:
Project Coordination and Management
Coordinates technical activities of project teams.
Collaborates with project leaders to develop work plans, schedules, and resource requirements.
Attends and contributes to weekly project meetings.
Provides technical oversight for network upgrades and new deployments.
Facilitates input from clients, vendors, and stakeholders for complex networking projects.
Reporting, Documentation, and Technical Direction
Completes and evaluates reports for management and users (status, problem, progress, utilization).
Develops and approves plans for new technology deployments and system integration.
Sets technical direction as member of the information resource team.
Oversees documentation of network designs, changes, and engineering processes.
Creates and maintains Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and network maps.
Network Design and Security Oversight
Designs and implements complex network projects, reviewing design plans and construction blueprints.
Manages network security, including monitoring, applying updates, and responding to alerts.
Coordinates with vendors on technology evaluations, demos, and product implementations.
Ensures network changes adhere to established protocols and design standards.
Testing, Certification, and Troubleshooting
Coordinates testing and certification processes for complex network installations.
Sets up lab environments for pre-production testing of network plans.
Troubleshoots and resolves complex enterprise data communication network problems.
Uses automation tools to streamline routine network management tasks.
Stadium Technology Management
Maintain wireless infrastructure for all facilities.
Support IPTV operations for all facilities.
Manage core switches and firewall at Kyle Field.
Assist with management of general technology dependent on network infrastructure at Athletics facilities.
What you need to know
Salary: Up to $80,000 annually. Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience.

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Five years of networking design experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
CompTIA Network+
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
Demonstrated strong work ethics and commitment to high‑quality performance.
Proven leadership potential and ability to guide, influence, or mentor others.
Open to learning and adaptability, with a demonstrated willingness to embrace new technologies and processes.
Supervisory experience, including the ability to guide, support, and develop team members.
Network deployment and administration experience/knowledge, with hands‑on experience managing and supporting complex network environments.
Ability to perform effectively in high‑pressure situations, maintaining sound judgment and timely decision‑making.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Knowledge of advanced Information Technology (IT) and the Interface Technology Library (ITIL).
Ability to perform intermediate troubleshooting and maintain client relations. Ability
to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Knowledge of project management, mentoring, negotiation skills, basic vendor relations, advanced client relations skills, proposal writing, business acumen, persuasive communication, adaptability to change, team leadership skills, and quality assurance methodologies.
Other Requirements and Factors:
Ability to maintain the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, which may include communications systems, computer networks and systems, cybersecurity systems, electrical grid, hazardous waste treatment system or water treatment system.
This role may require working outside of standard office hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to support the demands of technology services and ensure the seamless operation of essential systems.
This position is security sensitive.
This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TAMU policies, regulations, rules and procedures.
