À propos
We believe that innovation isn't just about technology-it's about the people, culture, and purpose that make it happen. Every Switch team member contributes to a mission greater than themselves: to create the world's most advanced digital infrastructure that powers the progress of humanity.
The Role: Network Engineer III The Network Engineer III helps design, deploy, and support complex wired and wireless network solutions across Switch environments. This role focuses on reliable network performance, sound technical design, and clear operational standards. You will handle advanced troubleshooting, support major projects, and serve as a go-to resource for lower-tier engineers in your area of expertise. This role includes on-call support and escalated issue response. What You'll Do
Design, implement, and support complex wired and wireless network solutions. Troubleshoot advanced network issues, including outages, RF interference, roaming, coverage, and client connectivity. Use wireless planning and analytics tools, such as Ekahau, to support design and optimization work. Review site survey data and turn findings into clear design changes or recommendations. Help define configuration standards and best practices for network devices and services. Evaluate software versions, patches, and new hardware before production use. Patch and upgrade supported network platforms. Plan network capacity, including ports, bandwidth, and wireless coverage needs. Support the introduction of new products and technologies into production. Create and maintain network diagrams, design documents, and project records. Develop and update technical procedures and operational documentation. Act as an escalation point for complex issues within the team. Mentor Network Engineer I and II team members through review, coaching, and shared problem solving. Support project delivery by owning assigned technical work and helping junior engineers complete theirs. Participate in the on-call rotation and provide high-level support for escalated incidents. What We're Looking For
You communicate clearly and share critical details without overcomplicating the message. You work well with others and support team outcomes, not just your own tasks. You follow through on commitments and can be counted on during urgent or high-impact work. You use sound judgment when balancing speed, risk, and reliability. You look for root causes and bring practical solutions, not just problem statements. You can work independently on complex assignments and ask for input when needed. You take ownership of documentation, standards, and operational quality. You approach client-impacting work with care and a strong service mindset.
What You'll Bring Required qualifications
Experience designing, deploying, and supporting enterprise network environments. Strong working knowledge of routing, switching, and wireless networking. Experience with wireless technologies and standards, including IEEE 802.11. Experience with wireless controllers and management platforms, including on-prem or cloud-based tools such as Meraki Dashboard. Experience troubleshooting with packet captures, logs, and other network diagnostics. Experience creating and maintaining network diagrams and technical documentation. Experience with Cisco network operating systems. Experience with firewalls, VPN or tunneling technologies, and AAA concepts. Experience with network security practices across data, control, and management planes. Experience working with IP address management systems. Ability to manage complex project work with limited supervision. Preferred qualifications
Experience with Python or another scripting language. Experience with wireless design and site survey tools, including Ekahau. Experience with network simulation tools such as Cisco CML, EVE-NG, or GNS3. Experience with hardware load balancers. CCNP Enterprise, CCNP Wireless, CWNP, or similar relevant certification. Experience guidance
Typically 4 to 7 years of relevant experience. Deep wireless experience in design, deployment, and troubleshooting is strongly preferred.
We know strong candidates may not meet every preferred qualification. If your experience is close to what this role needs, we encourage you to apply.
