Position Summary:
The Database Administrator role will manage and maintain the data environment and data strategy of Kraus-Anderson (KA). This includes monitoring, securing, prioritizing, documenting, extracting and configuring all data to preserve all data integrity and privacy. This position will make sure that the KA environment follows database management best practices as well as cutting edge design and theory. They will also be responsible for creating and managing the landscape and environment for Business Intelligence and Analytics. They will work closely with the VP, IT and other leaders to create a sustainable data environment aligned with the KA application architecture.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Systems & Application Management
Maintains, patches, tunes, and troubleshoots database.
Ensures application performance and tuning.
Maintains and troubleshoots server configuration
Administers, schedules, and tunes applications.
Manages application integration and Application Programming Interface (API).
Assists in database testing, execution, and application patch reviews.
Assists infrastructure team for network and hardware performance issues.
Manages, tunes, and maintains data warehouse.
Data, Reporting & Analytics
Creates and revises data dictionary descriptions, including type, structure, and intended use of data.
Develops data model describing data elements and how they are used.
Creates and tunes custom forms and reports.
Designs and builds application reports and forms.
Provides support, tuning, and configuration of Business Intelligence software (BI).
Governance, Support & Operations
.Assesses and maintains security compliance for National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC), and International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
Manages application integration and Application Programming Interface (API).
Defines and validates disaster recovery plans.
Changes control input for impact, audit, and validation purposes.
Prioritizes and schedules problem resolution.
Logs and tracks calls using problem management database, and maintains history records and related problem documentation.
Assists IT management when needed or requested.
Azure Cloud & Platform
Administers and maintains cloud-based database platforms, including Microsoft Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure SQL Database, and related services.
Designs and supports cloud data architecture, including integration with Azure Data Factory, Azure Storage, and data lake environments.
Monitors and optimizes cloud database performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
Manages backup, restore, and high availability strategies in cloud environments.
Supports migration of on-premises databases to Azure cloud platforms.
Data Integration & Pipelines
Designs, builds, and maintains ETL/ELT pipelines for data movement and transformation, including Azure Data Factory.
Integrates data from multiple internal and external systems using APIs, cloud services, and data pipelines.
Ensures reliability and performance of data ingestion processes.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Bachelor’s degree in business, IT or equivalent; or equivalent combination of education and experience
1 to 3 years related experience
SQL Database Administrator Certification
1+ Years of Business Intelligence, Analytics and Data Management
2+ years of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) support experience
2+ years Structure Query Language (SQL) and custom reporting experience
2+ years of Microsoft O365
Working knowledge of Microsoft PowerBI or equivalent BI software
Demonstrated computer proficiency (MS Office 365 – Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook)
Satisfactory verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
Strong capabilities managing a business-critical ERP system, requiring appropriate sense of urgency
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
Results oriented work style in a 24x7 application uptime environment
Able to work simultaneously on multiple projects within tight time frames with ability to produce high quality outcomes
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Flexible and able to plan for contingencies and know when to invoke them
Strong organizational skills and high level of personal discipline
Able to communicate and collaborate well with technical teams and business Subject Matter Experts (SME)
Experienced and skilled in documenting configurations, architecture, technical processes
Able to work efficiently in a matrix environment
Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency and meet challenging work goals
Ability to maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
Ability to possess and maintain exceptional work ethic as well as uphold company values and demand the highest standard of conduct from self and others
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
2+ years of Project Management or Project Implementation
Strong knowledge of IT governance, project planning, and the technological usage/alternatives available in a multi-business unit environment.
Functional knowledge of core business processes such as accounting, construction, inventory management, and the supply chain
Working knowledge of Power BI architecture, including datasets, semantic models, and data refresh processes.
Working knowledge of Power Automate flows, including triggers, actions, and integration with data sources.
Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric concepts, including Lakehouse, Warehouse, and data pipelines.
Understanding of how traditional databases integrate with data lake and lakehouse architectures.
Working knowledge of REST APIs and how data is exchanged between systems.
Understanding of JSON, data payloads, and integration patterns used in modern applications.
Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
Other:
Ability to travel to jobsites and Non-Metro offices as necessary

Salary Range:
$95,000 to $115,000 annually, plus discretionary incentive program.
While the range listed represents the anticipated hiring range for this position, offers at the upper end of the range are uncommon.
Pay is based on many factors including but not limited to education, skill, experience, training, certifications, and other business needs.
