Our Grand Rapids, Michigan facility is seeking a reliable and organized Shipping Clerk to manage the outbound flow of our products. This position is essential for ensuring that all shipments are processed accurately, efficiently, and on time, contributing significantly to our logistics success. The ideal candidate will have strong administrative and communication skills, a keen eye for detail, and a dedication to maintaining a safe and orderly shipping environment. You will be responsible for preparing shipping documentation, coordinating with carriers, and ensuring that all outbound orders are correctly packaged and labeled.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process all necessary shipping documentation, including bills of lading, packing slips, and shipping labels.
- Verify accuracy of outgoing orders against shipping manifests.
- Coordinate with freight carriers for pickup schedules and delivery arrangements.
- Communicate effectively with internal departments and external carriers regarding shipment status.
- Ensure that all packages are properly labeled and securely prepared for transit.
- Maintain organized records of all outgoing shipments and related documentation.
- Assist in the staging of outgoing shipments in the designated dock areas.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, ensuring a safe shipping environment.
- Wear and utilize all required PPE correctly throughout the shift.
- Perform tasks that may require moderate Lifting of packages up to 40 lbs.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Shipping Clerk, Logistics Coordinator, or in a similar administrative role within a warehouse environment is preferred.
- Proficiency in using shipping software and standard office applications.
- Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced setting.
- Familiarity with shipping carrier requirements and documentation.
- Commitment to workplace safety and the proper use of PPE.
