We are hiring for a Picker/Packer position at our bustling distribution center in Durham, North Carolina. This role is fundamental to our order fulfillment process, ensuring that customer orders are accurately and efficiently prepared for shipment. You will be responsible for picking specified items from warehouse shelves and packaging them securely for transit. Precision, speed, and attention to detail are crucial for success in this fast-paced logistics environment. You will work with pick lists or electronic scanners to locate and retrieve products, ensuring the correct quantity and item are selected. After picking, you will carefully package the items, adding necessary protective materials and ensuring proper labeling. The ideal candidate is organized, thrives in a team setting, and is committed to accuracy. This role involves significant physical activity, including walking, bending, reaching, and lifting. A strong emphasis is placed on workplace safety, and you will be required to follow all company guidelines regarding safe lifting practices and the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). We provide comprehensive training on our picking and packing procedures, warehouse systems, and safety protocols. Responsibilities:
- Accurately pick items from warehouse inventory based on customer orders.
- Verify picked items against order details for accuracy in item, quantity, and description.
- Package picked items securely and efficiently for shipment, using appropriate materials.
- Apply shipping labels and other necessary documentation to packages.
- Operate basic warehouse equipment, such as pallet jacks, as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, contributing to overall warehouse safety and efficiency.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including safe lifting techniques and the use of required PPE.
- Collaborate with team members to meet daily picking and packing targets.
- Participate in regular safety training and promote a safety-conscious work environment.
- Report any discrepancies, damages, or safety concerns to supervisors promptly.
Previous experience in picking, packing, or general warehouse work is a plus.
Ability to read and interpret order forms and labels accurately.
Physical capability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods.
Capacity for lifting up to 50 pounds.
Familiarity with warehouse operations and logistics procedures.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Understanding of safety regulations, including PPE usage and safe lifting.
