MTU has an extensive and impressive regional footprint with six campuses across the South-West region in Cork and Kerry, and a student body of 18,000.
MTU is seeking a person with suitable experience to fill the role of Senior Cybersecurity Analyst in our Risk and Compliance team within the IT Services department.
MTU is embarking on some major transformation projects over the coming years and needs to recruit suitable expertise to assist with this transformation.
Location, level, and relationship within management structure: This post can be based in either the Cork or Kerry Campus but may involve some travel between both campuses.
The successful candidate will be reporting to the Head of IT Security based in the MTU Kerry campus.
This line management arrangement may be amended as MTUs organisational structure evolves over time.
Duties and responsibilities of the position: Conduct in-depth system forensics, network forensics, event log, and malware analysis, to ascertain detail, extent, and consequences of any security related events.
Gather forensic information and analysis so it can be reviewed in detail by the Technical Cyber Security Team to ascertain detail, extent, and consequences of any security related events.
Creation and updates of incident response procedures and all cybersecurity related documentation.
Monitor, Review and Assess alerts through intelligence and investigative analysis.
Provide guidance on security administration, auditing, penetration testing and reporting as per relevant standards.
Assist with conducting ongoing risk assessments and incidents, internal and external audits, compliance and governance checks.
Gather and document relevant data and information on cyber-related incidents or vulnerabilities.
Work with third party management service providers on support and technical project related items.
Assist with escalation and/or incident management processes and provide timely stakeholder communications.
Assist with technical procurement, public tender requirements and relevant processes.
Assist IT Services program management office and other MTU departments on cybersecurity technical related projects.
Provide ongoing mentoring and coaching of cybersecurity team members.
Provide guidance on technical aspects of cybersecurity, project and/or operational tasks, as required to support MTU.
Assist the Governance, Risk & Compliance manager with assessing risk, cybersecurity technical requirements, and compliance tasks Any additional technical tasks that may be required to support the MTU IT Services environment.
Essential Criteria for the role: (i) A relevant higher Third Level Qualification and/or related professional Information Technology/Cyber Security certification.
AND / OR (ii)Significant relevant work experience within security operations, cybersecurity risk management, cybersecurity compliance, cybersecurity administration or similar environment and/or industry.
Desirable Qualifications/Experience: Experience in a similar role, preferably within information security and/or a similar cybersecurity environment.
Ability to explain detailed technical and cybersecurity topics to non-technical stakeholders.
Experience and working knowledge of Virtualisation (VMware), Cloud (Azure, AWS, Google), Network (Cisco, Fortinet) systems and technologies.
Good knowledge of regulatory requirements, frameworks, and industry standards e.g.
NIST, ISO27001, CIS, ITIL, NIS, NIS2, GDPR, etc.
Working knowledge with the deployment, maintenance, and operational administration of security platforms: SIEM, SOAR, DLP, IDS/IPS, EDR, XDR, Firewalls, VPN, Cloud Application & Tennant Security, Web Application Proxies, Email Gateway, Etc.
Working Knowledge of threat intelligence operation management and analysis.
Experience working with Dev-Ops/software development would be beneficial.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly outline and understand requirements.
A relevant Masters degree (Level 9) from a recognised degree awarding authority in a related discipline.
Terms of the Appointment: Salary Range: €69,802.00
- €82,686.00 pa Permanent whole-time position 36.5 hours per week.
Annual leave: 29 days per annum.
