The CDP Foundations team plays a crucial role in developing the core data model and essential components of the Coinbase Developer Platform. We focus on creating the systems that establish organizational structures, user and customer representations, fund ownership, and access control. What you'll be doing: Design, implement, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure backend services within a microservices architecture.
Define both internal and customer-facing APIs that are pivotal for the CDP.
Create technical design documents (TDDs), guiding complex projects with technical leadership and clarity.
Lead projects from inception to deployment and ongoing monitoring.
Enhance operational excellence by addressing technical debt and improving system reliability and observability.
Participate in code reviews, engage in on-call rotations, lead incident responses, and foster a culture of constructive feedback to ensure high standards of code quality.
What we look for in you: Over 5 years of experience in backend software development, with a strong focus on backend systems.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Golang (preferred), C, Rust, or Python.
Experience with databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB), caching systems (Redis, Memcached), and messaging queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and event-driven architectures.
Extensive knowledge of RESTful API design principles, including experience with API development and integrations using OAuth and JWT.
Familiarity with AWS and containerization technologies such as Kubernetes.
Understanding of web security best practices and secure coding practices, especially for financial systems.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Nice to haves: Experience in designing public-facing APIs.
Background in developing financial platforms or fintech systems.
Familiarity with the crypto/on-chain ecosystem (not mandatory).

Depending on your work location, the target annual base salary for this position ranges from $186,065 to $218,900 USD. Full-time offers from Coinbase also include bonus eligibility, equity, and comprehensive benefits such as medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
