Job Description The Role As an Embedded Software Procurement Specialist, you will lead the initiative to source and negotiate partnerships with suppliers that specialize in embedded and connected vehicle software solutions. Your primary objective will be to ensure that our software selections not only meet our cost and quality standards but also align with our technological roadmap and compliance regulations. Success in this role will rely on your ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, legal, cybersecurity, and program management to enhance product development and lifecycle management. What You'll Do Keep abreast of trends in the Automotive, Software, and IT sectors to strategically align your sourcing efforts with GM's software vision. Build and maintain effective relationships both internally and externally by facilitating cross-functional collaboration. Identify and evaluate suppliers who can meet our evolving technology specifications. Develop and sustain supplier partnerships that prioritize quality, service, technology, and price negotiations while recognizing project timelines and lead times. Actively engage with stakeholders including engineering, IT, business leadership, legal, and security teams. Oversee the timely renewal of annual contracts and manage deadlines efficiently. Diligently adhere to corporate purchasing and accounting policies. Negotiate comprehensive contract terms and pricing to finalize agreements effectively. Implement the Global Purchasing and Supply Chain sourcing procedures for all sourcing projects. Conduct thorough benchmarking for each sourcing initiative to assess competitiveness. Manage and resolve any commercial issues with suppliers while ensuring performance is monitored closely. Demonstrate strong negotiation skills. Communicate clearly and professionally, both in writing and verbally. Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) Minimum of 2 years of relevant post-graduate experience in procurement, supply chain management, program/product management, engineering, logistics, or product development. Willingness to travel 5% of the time, both domestically and internationally. What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications) Experience in the automotive industry. Familiarity with procurement software. Strategic thinking skills with a collaborative approach across multiple functions. Strong execution capabilities. An engineering background with experience in software purchasing is highly regarded. Understanding of basic engineering documentation. Knowledge of contract law as it relates to purchasing processes. Awareness of software and technology trends. Proven negotiation skills. Compensation: The salary range for this role is $95,200 - $126,500, with actual base salary depending on relevant experience and qualifications. Bonus potential based on company performance, job level, and personal contributions is also available.
