Position Overview:
The Business Analyst will be responsible for collaborating with Disadvantaged Business Enterprises, Small Business and Veteran Own Business to build relationships, train, advise, and develop strategies towards their becoming eligible businesses for routine maintenance opportunities with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT). This role's primary function will be to provide supportive services to clients and develop mutually beneficial relationships with key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Meet with Clients: Disadvantaged Business Enterprises, Small Businesses and Veteran Owned Businesses regarding routine maintenance opportunities with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT).
Become familiar with GDOT's overall contracting practices to comprehensively assist firms with taking advantage of GDOT programs and opportunities.
Educate, advise and train clients on processes and application requirements necessary to become approved for GDOT routine maintenance projects.
Collaborate with organizations and agencies to increase the pool of eligible businesses.
Develop and implement strategies to assist firms with increasing their ability to bid on GDOT projects.
Develop, conduct, and contribute to in person and webinar workshops for clients.
Develop and present information at outreach meetings throughout the GDOT seven districts.
Qualifications:
Experience & Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. An Associate degree may also be acceptable.
Knowledge of transportation industry.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with both individuals and teams.
Proactive in pursuing new knowledge and enhancing skill sets.
Willingness to take ownership of tasks and problems which may extend beyond the initial scope of responsibility.
Strong project management and analytical skills.
Willingness and ability to adapt to new circumstances, information, and challenges.
Ability to travel up to 25%.
Other Requirements:
Strong knowledge in business planning and development.
Experience in consulting with small business owners to assess project readiness.
Experience in understanding Invitations to Bid and Responding.
Experience with training and curriculum development.
Strong critical thinking abilities for proactive problem-solving, including issue anticipation, solution identification, and effective communication with stakeholders.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines and achieving results.
Proficient in client engagement and effective communication skills.
Work Environment:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
Primarily works in an office environment but will also work external of office environment while completing required errands.
Frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel reach with hands and arms; and talk, see and hear clearly.
Occasionally required to stand, walk, climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
Occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
