Scope of Work
The Agency of Digital Services ("ADS") on behalf of the Agency of Education ("AOE") Information Technology Team is seeking the services of a Database Administrator ("DBA"). This person or persons will be responsible for leading the development and evolution of the Enterprise Data Environment in the educational space, resolving issues, ensuring appropriate Role Based Access Control, implementing new databases and APIs,
as well as producing periodic reports and performing regular updates.
Work is expected to be performed remotely, in-person at the National Life building in Montpelier, VT, or in a hybrid setting; this will be determined as part of the onboarding process. The person or persons filling this role will receive assignments directly from the Director of Digital Services for the AOE team and is expected to work as a member of the cross-functional team of ADS and AOE employees. This person or persons shall
report weekly on in-process, completed, and upcoming work and shall participate in meetings of the ADS team and applicable meetings of the ADS and AOE teams.
It is anticipated that the initial term of an agreement resulting from this SOW RFP will be for six (6) months with the opportunity to renew for additional three (3) month periods while efforts to hire a full-time DBA continue.

RESTful APIs to serve various web tools and applications, MS SQL, agile methodologies, ETL processes, Git version control systems, as well as Microsoft Azure
Requirements: • Specific Duties of the Database Administrator will include: • Lead the development and evolution of the Enterprise Data Environment • Development of RESTful APIs to serve various web tools and applications • Collaborate with IT team to define the collection of tools/technology used to provide comprehensive solutions • Collaborate with third party vendors to ensure alignment with current and future IT direction • Meet with AOE staff to understand business process and development needs • Collaborate with IT and business teams using agile methodologies, version control systems (Git) and work collaboration tools • Research and application of new tools and methodologies
Preferred Qualifications: • Experience in database design and data modeling • Knowledge of data warehousing methodologies • Experience with MS SQL, Analysis Services, Master Data Services, Integration and Reporting Services • Ability to design and build robust ETL processes • Experience in the development of RESTful APIs to serve various web tools and applications • Collaborate with IT and business teams using agile methodologies, version control systems (Git) and work collaboration tools • Ability to collaborate with teams to define the collection of tools/technology used to provide comprehensive solutions • Ability to research and investigate new solutions
