The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for a full-time Senior Database Engineer, GS-2210-13 to serve as a senior database engineer and administrator performing all facets of relational database administration in support goal of creating, integrating and maintaining a robust data management environment that establishes and shares the "single source of truth" regarding our Total Force Airmen and their HR-related data, at Headquarters Air Force (HAF), Directorate of Manpower, Personnel, and Services (A1), Digital Transformation Activity (DTA) at Joint Base (JB) San Antonio - Randolph, in Universal City, Texas.
Salary Range: $108,001 to 140,403 based on experience.
This position has the authority to set Advance In-Hire Rates for Cyber Workforce Positions for those who qualify.

This isn't your typical data management position, this is a hands-on-keyboard, GS-2210-13 data engineering role for a builder who loves a challenge. You will be empowered to design and construct our data future from the ground up, owning the development of complex ETL pipelines in AWS, writing sophisticated Python scripts to integrate disparate systems via APIs, and modeling the data structures that will serve as our single source of truth. Qualifications/Requirements:
Must be a United States Citizen
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
Mastery knowledge of enterprise data management and analysis concepts, techniques, and principles sufficient to establish, plan, analyze, and measure/monitor enterprise data management policies, standards and processes.
Mastery Knowledge of advanced SQL and database structures, to include data lakes and data warehouses, and of operating systems software and database concepts to envision problems which would be encountered by applications programmers using various database structures.
Skill in implementation and documentation of data sourcing, data dictionaries, data models, file/database designs, ETL processes, user testing, and data development lifecycle.
Skill in creating and managing users and roles and managing database, table, object level permissions, database performance monitoring, designing and implementing stored procedures, packages, and triggers for monitoring database performance, database tuning, SQL statements tuning, database backup and recovery, and development of integrated components of the data environment.
Ability to envision problems which would be encountered by applications programmers using various database structures, to modify existing systems, and to advise on alternative approaches in operating systems development and/or problem resolution related to database management systems.
Ability to analyze complexities of existing technology, review/revise/develop policy, initiate plans for enhancements, and provide management sufficient technical and cost analysis information, through written documentation and oral briefings, to render informed judgments and to maintain an up-to-date awareness of technological advances and predict how management can meet future requirements.
This position may include information assurance (IA) work as an additional duty. The recipient of this additional duty must achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of these duties.
