Job Summary
The
Desktop Support Technician
provides onsite and remote employee technical support.
Onsite Location : Schenectady NY
Essential Functions
Maintains desktops, printers, and mobile devices for engineers, administrative staff, and the leadership team Responds to the needs of various questions of network users concerning hardware, access to resources, and the operation of various software programs. Establishes and maintains network users, user environment, directories, and security. Manages operating systems and data backups for the local office Troubleshoots entry-level network problems, escalating to the Network Engineer and Network Manager as needed Maintains and operates office audio including visual equipment necessary for critical business communications Coordinates software and hardware upgrades under the direction of the Network Manager and Network Engineer. Communicates with office partners to develop office technology needs to be escalated to the Network Manager and the Director of Information Technology Trains users on new and modified equipment. Responds to occasional off-hours or weekend network emergencies. Travels to other M/E Engineering offices to attend meetings and to cover time off for team members occasionally Works with other regional IT team members and managers to collaborate on successful deployment of enterprise-wide initiatives. Education and Experience
Associate's degree and/or bachelor's degree in information technology, or related discipline a plus (Telecommunications, MIS, CS, CE, Software Engineering, Math or related) Computer Information Technology entry level certification(s) such as CompTIA A+ or Network + preferred. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to handle office materials, tools and controls, reach with hands and/or arms, push and pull objects, speak, and hear. Finger dexterity and field of vision is required. The employee may be required to lift and/or move objects of up to 20 pounds. The noise level in the office is usually low to moderate. The compensation range for this position is $23.00 - $28.00 per hour.
