About the Company
Our client is a construction and real estate company. They are looking for a Senior Accountant who will be responsible for the full-cycle accounting across a group of entities. The role supports financial accounting, management reporting, treasury activities, tax compliance, and process improvement initiatives within a multi-entity structure. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, technically strong, and comfortable operating in a hands-on environment with broad exposure.

About the Opportunity
Financial Accounting
Perform full-cycle accounting for a group of companies within the Yardi system, including:
Ensuring timely and accurate recording of daily financial transactions supported by detailed reconciliations and appropriate documentation
Processing and reviewing Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
Preparing journal entries, accruals, bank reconciliations, and balance sheet reconciliations, and maintaining the general ledger
Reconciling and posting investment transactions based on broker reports
Prepare year-end working papers, post year-end adjustments, and draft financial statements with accompanying notes
Assist the Controller and CFO in preparing management reporting packages, including consolidating and analyzing financial data from operating and investment activities
Tax and Legal Compliance
Prepare and file GST/HST returns, ensuring timely submission and remittance
Prepare corporate tax returns and assist the Tax Director with other tax compliance filings and elections as required
Support the Controller in tracking income tax provisions and instalment payments
Prepare payroll-related remittances and filings, including payroll tax, EHT, WSIB, and union dues
Assist the Tax Director with legal documentation, including preparation of resolutions and maintaining records
Treasury
Support treasury activities including monitoring cash balances, processing treasury transactions, and maintaining related documentation
Manage relationships with commercial banking partners and coordinate bank account administration, including opening, closing, and restructuring accounts related to corporate changes
Maintain the internal user access matrix for banking and financial systems
Assist the Controller in developing and improving cash flow reporting within the accounting system
Ad-Hoc Projects and Process Improvement
Support the Controller on ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects
Utilize accounting systems and advanced Excel tools for reporting, analysis, and data management
Continuously evaluate and enhance financial reporting processes, systems, and internal controls to improve efficiency and accuracy
About You
5–7 years of progressive experience in accounting roles
CPA designation or working towards CPA preferred
Experience with Yardi Voyager and TaxPrep T2 is a strong asset
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, complex formulas, data analysis)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Excellent organizational and time-management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities
Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment
Salary Range
$100,000 - $110,000/year

- the individual’s skill sets, experience and training;
- licensure and certification requirements;
- office location and other geographic considerations;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco by Highspring believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
