Join our bustling warehouse in New York City, New York, as an Order Picker! In this crucial role, you will be responsible for accurately and efficiently fulfilling customer orders by selecting items from warehouse shelves and preparing them for shipment. Your keen eye for detail and speed will ensure that our clients receive the correct products in a timely manner. You will utilize hand-held scanners and other warehouse equipment to locate and retrieve items, ensuring inventory accuracy with every pick. This position requires physical stamina, as it involves significant walking, bending, reaching, and lifting throughout your shift. Adherence to strict safety guidelines and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is paramount to prevent accidents and maintain a secure working environment. Understanding basic logistics principles will help you optimize your picking routes and contribute to overall warehouse efficiency. You will work collaboratively with other team members, including packers and shipping associates, to meet daily order fulfillment targets. The ideal candidate is motivated, dependable, and eager to contribute to a fast-paced logistics operation. Prior experience as an order picker or in a similar warehouse role is a definite advantage. Responsibilities:
- Accurately pick items from warehouse shelves based on order sheets or scanner instructions.
- Use hand-held scanners to track picked items and maintain inventory accuracy.
- Transport picked items to the packing or staging area.
- Ensure all picked items are handled with care to prevent damage.
- Follow established safety procedures and guidelines at all times.
- Wear required PPE, including safety shoes and vests.
- Maintain an organized and clean work area.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve daily picking goals.
- Report any inventory discrepancies or equipment issues to supervisors.
- Contribute to efficient logistics operations through accurate and timely picking.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as an order picker or in a warehouse environment is preferred.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Proficiency in lifting up to 50 lbs repeatedly.
- Familiarity with warehouse equipment and scanning technology.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Commitment to workplace safety and proper PPE usage.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
