has issued a backfill request for a
Senior Network Engineer
to support their enterprise network operations and security environment, including core and remote site connectivity.
This role handles circuit outages, router, switch, and firewall issues, monitors network performance, and supports secure, reliable network services for agency programs.
The ideal candidate brings strong Cisco infrastructure experience and enterprise network support depth.
This is a backfill request, so strong well-qualified candidates will likely be shortlisted.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): Support daily enterprise network operations, including monitoring circuits, identifying anomalies, and resolving outages across remote and core environments. Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, and other Cisco network components. Collaborate with internal teams and external organizations to provide secure, stable network connectivity for agency programs statewide. Minimum Candidate Characteristics:
8+ years supporting large enterprise network operations across local and wide area networks. 8+ years implementing, upgrading, and maintaining Cisco network infrastructure. 8+ years monitoring network environments, resolving outages, and performing ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting. Exceptional Candidate Characteristics:
Strong hands-on experience using SecureCRT, Cisco CLI, and OSI-based troubleshooting methods.
Target Pay Rate to you (C2C): $
50 p/h
Expected Duration: 4 months / 660 hours (4/1/26 - 8/31/26)
Location:
Remote-Candidates should be local to Dallas/Forth Worth, Houston, Austin, or San Antonio. This individual may be asked to attend meetings in Huntsville, TX (TDCJ HQ) with advanced noticed. All travel and meal costs will be covered.

Responsibilities:
The network engineer is responsible for supporting the agency's network operation, security, maintenance and collaboration with other agency departments and external organizations to provide a secure and effective network solution. This would include responding to remote site circuit outages, router/switch/firewall issues, configuring and monitoring core to remote network equipment and similar tasks. The network engineer also monitors the circuits daily to check for anomalies that may cause outages. This role also assists in providing any network support for all programs used in all client.
The role is 100% remote but does require an individual to live in Texas with a strong preference in Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, Austin or San Antonio. The network engineer maybe asked to attend a meeting in the client's headquarters in Huntsville Texas but will be provided advance notice with all travel and meal costs covered. This is a full time role so the network engineer must be available from 8 to 5 each day and may be required to address problems after hours.
