Overview
The Manager of Software Engineering oversees a small team of developers who design, develop and maintain the operation of web applications with a specific emphasis on usability, performance and scalability. This individual will provide leadership, support, and strategic direction for laboratory information systems and supporting platforms in multi-hospital environment.
This position is hybrid (3 days on-site in Lewisville,Texas and 2 days work from home).
Responsibilities
Delegates tasks to, organizes, mentors and motivates a team of resources (manage a team of 2 to 5 rescources).
Fosters a culture of continuous improvement in all areas of technology and instills the principles of this culture in a team of resources
Follows, and assures team adherence to Quest policies and procedures framework
Ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership
Review of the product architectural design, requirements specifications, and test specifications
Determine and/or approve estimates for development tasks
Design, configure, debug, and deploy software within the scheduled timeframe
Technical assessment of the impact of any changes to product requirements
Provision of day-to-day technical guidance to other members of the project team
Highlight, review and mitigate technical risks
Provide the project team with support and guidance on project specific processes, procedures, tools, and techniques
Contribute to the continued improvement of the organization's development procedures by looking for opportunities for improvement and implementing solutions
Resolution of technical issues in conjunction with team members
Technical point of contact with Test and Documentation, responsible for delivery of required technical information
Ensure that designs, code, and unit tests are consistent, robust, and scalable
Identification of technology training requirements
Work with Director in the development and administration of the departmental budget
Steward of process improvement initiatives
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's polices and applicable laws
Responsible for interviewing potential candidates, hiring, training, oversight of daily activities and performance appraisals of his/her employees
Qualifications
Education:
BS/BA degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or related field including MLT, MT.
Preferred Work Experience:
Demonstrate how you've leveraged Customer Experience processes to act as an advocate for customers
At least 5 years of experience working with Sunquest / CliniSys LIS or other laboratory information system
Experience in coaching, mentoring and/or training other team members
Minimum 5 Years of people leadership experience
