Seeking a skilled Forklift Operator for our busy Chicago, Illinois warehouse. This position is crucial for the efficient movement of materials throughout our facility. As a Forklift Operator, you will be responsible for safely operating forklifts to load and unload trucks, move inventory, and transport materials to designated areas. Your ability to maneuver in tight spaces and handle various types of loads is essential. A strong commitment to safety and adherence to operational procedures are paramount. This role is a key part of our logistics network, ensuring smooth operations and timely product handling.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts (sit-down, stand-up, reach trucks) safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload materials from trucks and trailers.
- Move inventory to and from storage areas, production lines, and shipping docks.
- Inspect forklift equipment before and after each shift, reporting any issues.
- Follow all safety regulations and company policies, including proper use of PPE.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Assist with inventory counts and other warehouse tasks as needed.
- Verify shipment documentation for accuracy.
Qualifications:
Valid forklift operator certification or license. Proven experience operating various types of forklifts. High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to perform physical tasks, including occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. Strong understanding of warehouse safety procedures and best practices for material handling and logistics. Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness. Must be able to stand, walk, and operate machinery for extended periods.
