We are hiring a meticulous Shipping Clerk for our busy warehouse in Chicago, Illinois. This position plays a vital role in ensuring that all outgoing shipments are processed accurately, efficiently, and on time. The Shipping Clerk will be responsible for preparing shipping documents, coordinating with carriers, and ensuring that packages are correctly labeled and dispatched. A keen eye for detail and a commitment to operational excellence are key. This role is integral to our logistics operations, ensuring customer satisfaction through reliable shipping. Responsibilities:
- Prepare shipping labels, bills of lading, and other shipping documentation.
- Verify the accuracy of outgoing shipments against orders.
- Schedule pickups with various shipping carriers (e.g., FedEx, UPS, USPS).
- Load and unload shipments as necessary, ensuring proper handling.
- Track shipments and provide updates to relevant parties.
- Maintain a clean and organized shipping area.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and external carriers.
- Adhere to all company safety regulations and use appropriate PPE .
- Assist with general warehouse duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a related shipping/receiving role.
- Familiarity with shipping software and carrier portals.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to perform tasks requiring moderate physical exertion, including occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds.
- Understanding of warehouse logistics and shipping procedures.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
