We are looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join a team within the Platform Product Group. This group's mission is to create a reliable, scalable, and compliant platform that maximizes efficiency and product quality. They establish the foundational technologies used across various products at Coinbase to ensure users enjoy a high-quality, consistent experience. The Core Automation team aims to build a future where AI-driven operations provide exceptional customer experiences and significant shareholder value. Our strategy focuses on: 1) automating customer support and compliance using Agentic AI, 2) learning from these automated processes to build scalable solutions, and 3) implementing AI across diverse domains to enhance both customer experience and internal procedures. This is just the beginning for us. Our current focus is automating customer support and compliance processes. Our goal is not only to improve efficiency through automation but also to reimagine processes and systems for a fully AI-driven automated landscape. We work collaboratively across functional teams to create delightful customer experiences, enhance compliance measures, and generate sustainable shareholder value. Your Responsibilities: Design and implement AI systems that enhance Coinbase's customer support and compliance processes. Create orchestrations, guardrails, and measurement techniques ensuring AI Agents deliver value and customer satisfaction. Architect and develop distributed systems. Provide technical guidance to teams and collaborate with stakeholders to set strategic roadmaps. Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables through your technical expertise. Mentor and train team members on design methodologies and coding standards. Design and implement foundational APIs for LLM integration. Develop high-quality, thoroughly tested code to fulfill customer needs. What You Bring: 8+ years of experience in software engineering. A strong background in architecting and developing impactful solutions to complex problems. A passion for building an inclusive financial ecosystem that connects the world. Preferred Qualifications: Experience deploying LLM-based applications to production and improving their relevance and accuracy is a major plus. Background in the Customer Support, Compliance, or Financial Crimes sectors is advantageous. The target annual base salary for this role ranges from $218,025 to $256,500. Full-time roles at Coinbase also include bonus eligibility, equity options, and a comprehensive benefits package.
