*Senior-Level Role Overview*
This position is strictly for *senior-level network engineers*.
Glencom Systems is seeking a *CCNP-level Cisco Network Engineer* who can:
* Lead complex environments
* Make independent design decisions
* Act as a *trusted advisor to clients*
This is *not an entry-level or mid-level role*.
Applicants without *deep, hands-on Cisco experience and real production ownership* will not be considered.
*What You Will Own*
* Technical ownership of *complex, multi-site customer networks*
* Network architecture design, optimization, and lifecycle planning
* Hands-on engineering across:
* Routing & Switching (BGP, OSPF, VLANs, STP)
* Cisco DNA Center, ISE
* SD WAN
* Leadership on:
* Network refreshes
* Migrations
* Security initiatives
* Advanced troubleshooting across the full network stack
* Direct client interaction as a *senior technical authority (not sales-driven)*
* Mentorship of junior and mid-level engineers
*Tech Stack (What You’ll Actually Touch)*
* Cisco Catalyst / Nexus / ISR / ASR
* DNAC, ISE, SD WAN
* VLANs, STP, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP
* Site-to-site and remote access VPNs (IPsec, AnyConnect)
* Meraki (nice to have)
* Multi-vendor environments typical of a VAR
*Required Qualifications (Non-Negotiable)*
* *Cisco CCNP (Enterprise, Wireless, or Security)* – required
* 5+ years *hands-on Cisco networking experience* in production
* Strong CLI expertise (routers, switches, firewalls)
* Expert understanding of:
* TCP/IP
* Routing & switching
* VLANs and WAN technologies
* Proven ability to:
* Troubleshoot complex issues independently
* Own environments end-to-end
* Comfortable making decisions *without a playbook*
*Strongly Preferred (Senior-Level Differentiators)*
* Check Point firewall design and administration
* Meraki enterprise deployments
* SD WAN
* Network security design & best practices
* Experience in a *VAR or multi-client environment* (big plus)
* Presales engineering / solution design experience
*What This Role Is NOT*
* Not a help desk role
* Not a “maintain one network forever” job
* Not heavily layered with bureaucracy
* Not for candidates who need constant direction
*Work Expectations*
* Onsite in Linden, NJ (5 days/week)
* Client-facing with local travel (NJ/NYC metro)
* Participation in scheduled after-hours maintenance
