What you will be doing:
In this role, you’ll provide expert advice on product safety matters to project and engineering managers, ensuring safety considerations (DEF STAN 0055/0056) are correctly implemented. You’ll engage with third parties to review and gather supporting safety case evidence, develop safety arguments (both physical and functional) using methods such as FHA, STPA, FMEA, FTA, and produce or update safety case and safety management documentation in line with regulations and standards.
Core duties:
- Provide advice on product safety matters to support programme delivery
- Engage with external stakeholders to gather and review safety evidence
- Develop and maintain safety arguments and documentation using recognised safety methods and standards
- Line manage and support the development of other safety practitioners
- Apply ALARP principles to assess and mitigate safety risks
- Demonstrate understanding of safety engineering and assurance principles
Essential Skills:
- Degree qualified in a STEM discipline or equivalent experience
- Safety engineering processes, practices and tools
- Clear understanding of safety engineering & assurance principals
The Combat Systems Safety Team:
Working closely with engineers and technical specialists on both In-Service and In-Build Combat Systems, you’ll have the opportunity to develop safety arguments and gain knowledge of new technologies and sensor systems used to support them. Experience in the military, defence, or maritime industries is welcomed. Relocation support is available for eligible roles across Submarines.
