Slate is looking for highly skilled, self-motivated, and detail-oriented
Senior Network Engineer
to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will design, implement, and maintain our enterprise network infrastructure across manufacturing facilities and corporate environments. You should ensure the reliability, security, and performance of our network across multiple sites and remote locations. Deep expertise in LAN / WAN architecture, OT / IT network convergence, and enterprise-grade networking equipment, along with a commitment to best practices and continuous improvement, is essential.
The Senior Network Engineer reports to the IT Manager / Director of Infrastructure.
WHAT YOU GET TO DO
Network Architecture & Design Design, deploy, and manage LAN / WAN, wireless, and OT / IT network infrastructure across multiple sites and facilities. Infrastructure Management
Lead network infrastructure upgrades including switching, routing, firewalls, and wireless systems. Hardware Configuration
Configure and maintain enterprise-grade network hardware including Ubiquiti UniFi, Cisco, and other platforms. Performance Monitoring
Monitor network performance, troubleshoot complex issues, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime. Network Security
Manage network segmentation, VLANs, and security policies to ensure OT / IT separation and regulatory compliance. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with IT, Operations, and Security teams to align network capabilities with business objectives. Documentation
Develop and maintain network documentation, topology diagrams, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Technology Evaluation
Assess and recommend new technologies, tools, and vendors to improve performance and cost efficiency. Mentorship
Provide escalation support and mentorship to junior network and IT staff. Vendor Management
Manage vendor relationships and coordinate with ISPs and technology partners for circuit provisioning and support. Compliance
Ensure network infrastructure meets cybersecurity best practices and applicable regulatory requirements. WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM
Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related field is preferred; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered. 8+ years of experience in network engineering or a related infrastructure role is required, ideally within the automotive, manufacturing, or telecommunications industries. Proven hands-on experience with switching, routing, firewalls, and wireless technologies. Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment with OT / IT network convergence is preferred. Familiarity with SCADA / ICS network security standards (IEC 62443, NIST SP 800-82) is a plus. Technical Proficiency
Strong working knowledge of network protocols including BGP, OSPF, MPLS, STP, VLANs, QoS, and VPN. Hands-on experience with Ubiquiti UniFi product ecosystem. Familiarity with industrial networking protocols, such as OPC UA, MQTT, and Modbus TCP. Experience with network monitoring and management tools (e.g., PRTG, SolarWinds, Nagios, etc.). Knowledge of SD-WAN solutions and cloud networking platforms (AWS, Azure). Solid understanding of network security principles, segmentation, and zero-trust architecture. Support & Service Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Ability to create and maintain detailed network documentation, runbooks, and SOPs. Experience working with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, multi-site environment. Active certifications, such as CCNP, CCIE, or CompTIA Network+, are preferred. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
