IT Support Engineer – Level 3

The Opportunity

In this position you will be part of the IT Operations team that supports the maintenance, accuracy and resiliency of its core IT systems, underlying databases and network models. You will support subject‑matter experts in delivering business‑as‑usual activities and strategy delivery changes. This position is a Level 3 – IT Support Engineer.


Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for BAU delivery of a rolling programme of change.
  • Support release management and testing of vulnerability patching.
  • Support the broader Integrated IT Services including seamless provision of feeds and the provision of network models.
  • Manage decision support tools for National Control Centre.
  • Effective stakeholder management of both internal and external stakeholders (technical and non‑technical) including key external vendors and internal service providers.
  • Liaise on a cross‑functional basis to support continuous improvement in information sharing, signal‑list quality and engineering standards.
  • Participate in disaster recovery drills and contribute to EirGrid Group’s Business Continuity Management process; participate in on‑call team when required.

About You

  • Relevant IT or engineering degree with a minimum of 5 + years of direct relevant experience.
  • Experience of working in a secure IT environment and working on critical infrastructure.
  • Analytical and problem‑solving capability.
  • Self‑starter with the ability to operate with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organisation and time‑management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Effective communicator, both in verbal and written communications to business and technical audiences.
  • Experience working with MS Office tools (including Excel, MS Project and Visio or equivalent).
