Our client, a rapidly expanding top 20 accountancy practice, is continuing its growth journey and is now seeking a motivated and commercially aware Accountant to join its high-performing audit team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified or part-qualified accountant who wants strong client exposure, real responsibility, and a clear progression path toward Assistant Manager and beyond.
You will work directly with Managers and Partners across a diverse portfolio of owner-managed businesses, SMEs, and larger corporate clients, gaining hands‑on experience and leadership exposure in a collaborative and supportive environment. Initially being offered as a Fixed Term Contract, these roles have a strong view to becoming permanent.
The Role
You will take ownership of core audit and accounting areas and play a key role in delivering high‑quality audit assignments while supporting and mentoring junior team members.
Key Responsibilities
Audit & Technical Delivery
- Take responsibility for key audit areas and assist in managing client audits, reporting to the Audit Manager
- Plan and execute assignments to ensure completion on time and within budget
- Prepare audit files to required professional standards
- Prepare statutory financial statements and supporting documentation
- Draft journals in line with appropriate accounting principles
- Review work completed by junior staff and prepare files for managerial review
- Perform detailed technical work and contribute to client discussions using commercial awareness
- Identify alternative or innovative audit approaches
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of accounting and audit technical developments
- Maintain high standards of quality and reporting across engagements
Client & Commercial Exposure
- Liaise directly with clients throughout the audit process
- Act as a key point of contact between the client and audit manager
- Build strong working relationships and understand clients’ businesses and industries
- Liaise with the Tax Department on relevant matters
- Assist in developing new client relationships
Team Leadership & Development
- Take ownership of tasks and ensure delivery to deadlines
- Monitor work delegated to junior staff and manage workflow
- Provide coaching, guidance, and constructive feedback to team members
- Support a positive and collaborative team environment
- Communicate xcfaprz updates regularly to managers and team members
- Identify personal development areas and continue professional growth
- Take an active leadership role within the team
Candidate Profile
- ACA / ACCA qualified (practice trained)
- 2–4+ years’ audit experience in an accountancy practice
- Strong knowledge of auditing standards and financial reporting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commercial awareness and ability to engage confidently with clients
- Organised, deadline-driven and capable of managing multiple assignments
