Our mission is to nurture the whole person, helping them achieve their transitional milestones in a trauma-informed environment.
About the RoleWe are excited to invite applications for a One to One Teaching Assistant position. This full-time role runs from Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 16:30, during term time only. While primarily based at our Horsham site, you may also support students at local PE venues and, eventually, in college settings.
Your ResponsibilitiesAs a vital member of our team, you will:
- Collaborate with the Headteacher and class teachers to align with our therapeutic approach.
- Support pupils in learning effectively, both individually and in groups, by:
- Clarifying and explaining instructions.
- Ensuring pupils can use provided equipment and materials.
- Motivating and encouraging students through personalized attention and support.
- Assisting in areas like speech and language, reading, spelling, numeracy, and handwriting.
- Using praise and constructive feedback to keep pupils focused and engaged.
- Liaise with teachers, SENCO, and other professionals regarding Individual Personal Education Plans (PEPs).
- Provide additional nurture as requested by the class teacher or SENCO.
- Implement agreed behavior management strategies consistently.
- Establish supportive relationships with pupils to promote acceptance and inclusion.
- Monitor and adapt learning activities to meet intended outcomes.
To thrive in this role, you should have:
- A minimum of GCSE A-C or equivalent in Maths and English.
- A Level 3 or above Teaching Assistant qualification.
- An understanding of the challenges faced by students with Emotional, Behavioural, or Social needs.
- The ability to work collaboratively within a close-knit team.
- Desirable: Experience in a specialist environment.
This is a 12-month fixed-term contract , term time only, with a salary range of £20,422 - £21,111.51 . You will be working in a supportive and dynamic environment that values your contributions.
