Position Overview: As a Senior IMS Database Administrator, you will take on the challenge of managing our IMS and DB2 hosted environments. This role requires a collaborative mindset to work within a dynamic team, ensuring our z/OS based benefits platform performs optimally even under a growing workload. Qualifications: 6+ years of experience as a DBA in z/OS/MVS environments. 6+ years of IMS database administration in an IBM mainframe setting. A 4-year college degree or equivalent experience. Technical Skills: IMS for z/OS:
Proficiency in IMS Database Manager, DBD source, and generation, along with a solid understanding of Database Recovery Control (DBRC) and basic DL/I coding. IMS Transaction Manager:
Familiarity with control region processing, PSB coding and generation, and monitoring regional databases. HALDB Management:
Strong knowledge of HALDB partitioning and maintenance techniques. DB2 for z/OS:
Understanding of DB2 catalog, security administration, and database backup and recovery techniques. z/OS, TSO, ISPF, JCL, and SDSF:
Capable of coding and debugging z/OS mainframe jobs with an understanding of dataset protection mechanisms. Key Responsibilities: Manage procedures and tools to support development and testing activities. Maintain production data and assist with data archiving in all operational environments. Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for complex IMS-related problems. Collaborate with project managers to implement database changes effectively. Contribute to day-to-day production support, database design, and performance tuning. Provide timely support for client requests and troubleshoot IMS service calls effectively. Participate in on-call support on a rotational basis outside normal business hours when necessary. Experience with High Available Large Database (HALDB) software is a plus. The base salary range for this position is $89,400.00 - $183,500.00. Your actual pay will depend on your skills, experiences, and geographic location.
