Sanitation Supervisors contribute to the Company’s success by supervising and coordinating activities of sanitation workers, maintaining sanitary condition of the facilities, production equipment/tools through effective cleaning and proper scheduling and ensuring cost-effective operations within the department. Assists the Quality Assurance department with inspection and testing activities through stages of the manufacturing process to ensure internal and regulatory standards are met. Collaborates with QC, Production, and Maintenance staff to solve food safety and quality issues. Assists the QA/Food Safety Manager in various SQF activities that include auditing, verifying, training and documentation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Enforce safety, GMP’s, Food Safety, and sanitation regulations. Directs and monitors all sanitation workers, and schedules sanitation activities. Ensures all workers who engage in sanitation activities follow safety requirements, GMP’s and company policies, and are trained (documented) on the proper methods and activities Directs SSOP program and master sanitation program; directly verifies compliance by the sanitation crew, reviews and maintains documentation. Provides or coordinates on-going training and ensures development of the sanitation crew to ensure that sanitation workers possess active working knowledge of all sanitation and cleaning procedures. Responsible for investigating and documenting Corrective and Preventive Actions as they apply to sanitation non-compliances. The ability to create and update SSOPs (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures). Understanding and meeting both federal and local agency regulations including SQF criteria for documentation and training. Ensures that all MSS (Master Sanitation Schedules) comply and are on track. Ensures that all sanitation team members are trained in the safe and effective use of chemicals, cleansers, sanitizers and SOPs. Ensures that chemical verification process is completed and documented. Ensures methods used to confirm the correct concentrations of detergents and sanitizers. Controls the Sanitation Department budgets by properly utilizing resources and developing cost-savings ideas. Confer with management to resolve worker problems, complaints or grievances. Performs Internal Audits of various programs and policies. Verifies SQF compliance with procedures through weekly verifications. Performs various SOP verifications on a quarterly basis. Is a member of the HACCP team. Creates and implements Standard Operating Procedures as they arise through the direction of the QA/Food Safety Manager. Train on specific SQF scopes as directed through the QA/ Food Safety Manager. Assist with SQF document control as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This supervisory position is considered a working supervisor with some authority for personnel actions and oversees most day-to-day operation of the group.
