We are seeking a dedicated Material Handler to join our logistics team in Chicago, Illinois. This role is fundamental to our warehouse operations, involving the movement, organization, and preparation of materials for distribution. You will be responsible for ensuring that goods are handled efficiently and safely, contributing to the smooth flow of our supply chain. A proactive approach and commitment to safety are key requirements for this position.
Responsibilities:
- Loading and unloading materials from trucks and containers.
- Moving materials within the warehouse using pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other equipment.
- Organizing and stocking inventory in designated locations.
- Picking and preparing materials for shipment or production.
- Assisting with inventory control and cycle counts.
- Maintaining a clean and organized work environment, adhering to housekeeping standards.
- Following all company policies and safety regulations, including the proper use of PPE .
- Operating basic warehouse machinery and equipment as needed.
- Identifying and reporting any damaged materials or equipment malfunctions.
- Performing other duties as assigned, which may include moderate lifting .
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a warehouse or material handling role is preferred.
- Ability to operate pallet jacks and hand trucks.
- Physical capability to perform tasks, including frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Commitment to maintaining a safety -conscious work environment.
- Willingness to wear required PPE , such as safety shoes and vests.
- Understanding of warehouse logistics and inventory flow is a plus.
