03/04/2026 Hybrid work model in Pittsburgh, PA Join our dynamic team as we build a secure, fault-tolerant Azure platform designed for high-volume data ingestion, ledger-based recordkeeping, and analytics tailored for a controlled user base. This role focuses on backend development, prioritizing Java, Spring Boot, AKS, and distributed systems that emphasize strong consistency and zero data loss targets. You will design resilient, geo-distributed services while collaborating with a small Angular front end. Candidates should thrive in fast-paced environments and be open to leveraging AI-assisted development tools to enhance workflow. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity. Applicants must be willing to work on a W2 basis and transition to full-time employment after the initial contract period. $70.00 to $80.00/hr. W2 Key Responsibilities: Design and develop Java and Spring Boot microservices deployed in Azure Kubernetes Service.
Implement high-volume, fault-tolerant data processing pipelines with stringent delivery guarantees.
Ensure reliable and persistent input delivery to eliminate client resend requirements.
Build and maintain ledger-style recordkeeping services for secure datasets.
Orchestrate API-based service calls among internal systems and external partners.
Design multi-region Azure deployments aiming for a maximum of 10-minute Recovery Point Objective (RPO) and 1-hour Recovery Time Objective (RTO).
Implement caching and buffering strategies that leverage Azure Blob Storage and future integrations with Kafka and Redis.
Contribute to a small Angular front end for supporting analytics and reporting views.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure secure data access and a consistent user experience.
Design for geo-distributed resiliency, queuing, and persistence utilizing Azure-native services.
Align systems with U.S. Government security standards while supporting production deployments and operational readiness.
Leverage AI-assisted coding tools to speed up development and enhance workflows.
Qualifications: Extensive experience with Java and Spring Boot.
Hands-on experience in building and operating cloud-native applications within Microsoft Azure.
Experience with AKS and Kubernetes operations.
Background in distributed systems, fault tolerance, and high-volume data processing.
Proven knowledge of messaging, queuing, and caching patterns.
Familiarity with Angular for full-stack contributions is a plus.
Experience working with confidential or regulated data and adherence to security protocols.
Demonstrated utilization of AI tools in software development and an ability to articulate their impact on workflows.
Experience with Kafka, Redis, or other event-streaming platforms is preferred.
Familiarity with Oracle databases is preferred.
Experience in designing multi-region Azure architecture is preferred.
Background in analytics and reporting systems is preferred.
Prior experience working in government, regulated, or high-security environments is preferred.
Ability to deliver under tight deadlines with evolving requirements is preferred.
