Mixed IT / Dev Ops role. Based in Birmingham. Full Time Hybrid Office 2 days per week.
Role Overview: This role is split into two core responsibilities:
DevOps and Cloud Infrastructure (70%) Design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure. AWS: EC2, Arura, S3, Lambda, Dynamo DB, Route 53 etc. Azure: Self-hosted Linux agents, deployment pipelines, VPN, firewall. Automate deployment pipelines and ensure CI/CD best practices. Monitor and optimise performance using tools like Grafana and Prometheus. Create, manage and optimise containerised applications with Docker. Handle databases including MS SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL. Scripting using languages like Bash, Python. Maintain system reliability, scalability, and security in cloud environments. Version control systems, including Git. IT Support and On-Premises Management (30%) Support and maintain VMware, networking infrastructure, and on-premises servers. Provide end-user support for Office 365, Microsoft Intune, and Exchange. Assist with new starter setups, including laptops, desktops, and phones. Create and maintain ISO27001-compliant network and IT documentation. Troubleshoot issues across Windows Servers, Linux Servers (CentOS/Debian), and end-user devices. Key Responsibilities: Manage and optimise cloud services in AWS and Azure, ensuring cost efficiency and operational excellence. Administer and maintain virtualised environments using VMware. Configure and troubleshoot networking, including VLANs, firewalls, and VPNs. Set up and support end-user devices, ensuring security policies via Microsoft Intune. Maintain documentation for network architecture, IT policies, and ISO27001 compliance. Respond to IT tickets, offering timely and effective resolutions. Proactively monitor systems using tools like Grafana and Prometheus, addressing potential issues before they impact operations. Support relational and NoSQL databases including MS SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Redis. Collaborate with other teams to ensure infrastructure aligns with business goals. Personal Attributes: Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical colleagues. Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise and handle multiple tasks. A proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential issues. Team player with a willingness to collaborate and share knowledge. Must have driving licence. Preferred Qualifications: Certifications in AWS, Azure, or other cloud technologies. VMware certification or equivalent experience. Familiarity with ISO27001 certification processes. Experience with Redis for session storage or caching
