Aughinish Alumina Ltd, situated on a 1,300-acre site on the Shannon Estuary, is one of the leading industrial plants in Ireland. It is the largest Alumina Refinery in Europe, producing the primary raw material for the production of aluminium. The company also has a 160MW Combined Heat and Power Plant. Responsibilities
- Wholesale energy trading (gas, electricity and carbon)
- Perform business analysis on the Energy division and recommend strategies to minimise cost of maintaining a stable energy demand
- Maintain financial reporting processes
- Work with and advise plant on decarbonisation strategies
- Liaise cross-functionally with the plant on energy commercial matters
- Routine administration
- Cost Reporting: Issue daily energy cost reports, prepare month end summary, budgets, forecasts and other ad hoc scenarios.
- Validate, code, approve and where relevant, query invoices covering all energy revenues and costs.
- Examine different gas purchasing and electricity sales strategies.
- Execute daily gas nominations, electricity market bids and carbon credit transactions in accordance with the optimised daily running regime, supply contracts and market rules.
- Support the plant regarding internal / external audits.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the all-island Single Electricity Market (SEM), the Trading and Settlement Code and the Gas Operator Grid Code.
- Provide required data to Transmission System Operator, Electricity and Gas market Regulators and other Regulatory bodies.
- Maintain trading records including trading files and trade confirmations
- Examine, model and advise the plant on the feasibility of future low carbon alternative energy sources.
- Monitor consultations for regulatory and policy changes affecting Irish and European energy markets, ensuring the companys best interests are reflected in responses.
- Travel and attend meetings on company's behalf on all aspects of energy markets.
Flexibility will be required as other duties outside those described above may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications And Experience- Relevant 3rd level qualification (e.g. Economics, Accountancy, Business Studies, Engineering, Mathematics, Data Analytics).
- Minimum of 3 years experience working in a professional environment. xcfaprz
- Advanced MS Excel skills
- Excellent analytical ability and business acumen
- Inquisitive mindset with strong problem-solving skills
- Highly organised with ability to deal with multiple priorities
- Ability to work on own initiative and part of a team
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
