Position Overview
LB Engineering is seeking a senior level Structural Engineer who is a currently licensed Professional Engineer PE in the State of Texas. This is a leadership role designed for an experienced engineer who is capable of operating independently while building and leading LB Engineering’s Houston Texas office.
Candidates must have a minimum of 7 years of experience as a licensed PE in TX and at least 11 years of total experience practicing structural engineering. This role is not entry level and requires full ownership of projects business development and local office leadership.
This position is 100% in office and reports directly to the Vice President. The successful candidate will lead projects manage staff drive business development and represent the firm locally in the Houston market while playing a key role in the firm’s expansion strategy.
Applicants who do not meet the licensure experience leadership and business development requirements will not be considered.
Responsibilities
Lead and execute structural engineering projects independently from concept through construction
Serve as Engineer of Record and sign and seal engineering deliverables
Design and manage residential multifamily commercial industrial and institutional structures
Provide redlines technical direction and quality control oversight for junior staff
Lead the day to day operations of the Houston office
Participate in and lead client architect contractor and municipality meetings
Drive business development efforts including leveraging an existing book of business
Manage project schedules budgets and scope
Mentor train and develop engineering staff
Maintain firm standards quality and accountability
Requirements Must Be a 100% Match
Active Professional Engineer PE license in the State of Texas
Minimum of 7 years of experience as a licensed PE
Minimum of 11 plus years of total structural engineering experience
Proven leadership experience in a consulting engineering environment
Ability to independently manage projects teams and client relationships
Comfort and accountability with sign and seal responsibility
Strong redlining and quality control experience
Strong client facing communication skills
Self starter mentality with ownership mindset
Existing book of business required
Ability and willingness to work 100% in office

This role is structured with a clear pathway to Principal and Partner level for the right candidate. The firm offers competitive compensation with negotiable profit sharing and performance based incentives tied to office growth business development and leadership performance.
